Avvocato di professione, fotografo per passione, Serge Najjar realizza fotografie urbane caratterizzate da un superbo minimalismo. Il focus della sua attività è incentrato sull’architettura della sua città natale, Beirut, della quale ci offre immagini inedite e accattivanti.
Con un linguaggio formale sobrio, geometrico, ricco di spunti che si riferiscono alla storia dell’arte moderna e contemporanea, da Josef Albers a Robert Mangold e Ellsworth Kelly, da Frank Stella e Sol LeWitt ad Alexander Rodchenko, il fotografo gioca con luci e ombre, linee e colori, forme e contrasti, per cogliere e testimoniare lo scorrere del tempo e la trasformazione dello spazio della metropoli libanese.
Architecture can of course be a source of inspiration, but what makes subjects truly interesting is contemplating settings and aesthetics, and making use of our ability to reconsider what we think we already know. Photography has helped me explore the fine line between the ugly and the beautiful, the ordinary and the less ordinary, between chaos and order, reality and truth.

Serge Najjar è un nato a Beirut, in Libano, nel 1973. Si è laureato in Legge all’Università Panthéon-Assas di Parigi.
