Pluripremiato fotografo americano, classe 1984, Adam Katseff è conosciuto a livello internazionale per le sue fotografie di paesaggi notturni dallo stile gotico e minimalista, ricche di incredibili dettagli.
Con una macchina fotografica di grande formato 8 x 10, Katseff ha immortalato alcuni dei luoghi più iconici degli States – il campo di battaglia di Gettysburg, le Bridalveil Falls di Yosemite, il fiume Susquehanna – che avevano affascinato e ispirato artisti influenti come Ansel Adams, Carleton Watkins, Albert Bierstadt, Timothy O’Sullivan e William Henry Jackson, scenari sconfinati, immersi nell’oscurità vellutata e impenetrabile della notte, ritratti da una prospettiva personale e creativa.
The subjects of my recent work are at the same time familiar and elusive. The outline of the image is easy to see, and as with memory our imagination must supply the rest. This is the goal of my current series, to present the viewer with a partial landscape and invite them to compose the rest themselves. In this way the images become at once universal and deeply personal; an exploration of the line between physical space and our psychological relationship to it. Each viewer must invest their own experience, their own subconscious into the work to make it whole, and each comes away with an impression based partly in reality, and partly of their own creation.
Adam Katseff
Adam Katseff ha conseguito un BFA presso il Massachusetts College of Art e un MFA presso la Stanford University, dove in seguito ha insegnato fotografia. Il lavoro di Katseff è stato esposto al Phoenix Art Museum, al Nevada Museum of Art e alle Hearst Galleries di New York. Le sue opere sono presenti in prestigiose collezioni pubbliche e private tra cui quella del Nelson Atkins Museum , del Nevada Museum of Art e della Hearst Corporate Collection.
Adam Katseff attualmente vive e lavora a Boston, Massachusetts.
